Lifelong AIDS Alliance Appoints Randall H. Russell as Chief Executive Officer
Seattle, Washington – After conducting an extensive national search, the Board of Directors of Lifelong AIDS Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of Randall H. Russell as Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2011. Mr. Russell will succeed Amanda Madorno, who has served the agency as Interim Executive Director since July, 2010.
“Upon our initial meeting, I was immediately impressed with Randall’s passion and in-depth understanding of the complex world of serving those living with HIV/AIDS” said Michael Godfrey, Lifelong AIDS Alliance Board Chair. “His dedication, extensive list of accomplishments, and strategic vision for the future will ensure that Lifelong is positioned to meet the growing needs of our community, and adapt to a future of increasing complexities. We are thrilled to have Randall join our team."
Randall will be responsible for the leadership, management, oversight, and strategic direction of Lifelong AIDS Alliance as established by the Board of Directors. ”It is a privilege to join the dedicated board, staff, donors, and volunteers to meet the needs of those living with or are at risk of HIV infection,”
said Russell. “The challenges faced by persons living with HIV disease are dynamic; it is our job to listen to the needs of those living with HIV as well as those at risk of becoming infected, and develop our responses accordingly in a fiscally sound manner”.
Randall brings to Lifelong AIDS Alliance 25 years experience in nonprofit management and consulting. Most recently Randall served as President and Founder of Healthcare Responses, Inc., a consulting firm focused on HIV/AIDS Advocacy, Special Needs Housing, and HIV Service Organization capacity development. In addition, Randall worked to support collaborations among government, community and private sector participants in the access to care, treatment and prevention services for sexually transmitted infections. He is also co-Founder and Director of the Southern AIDS Coalition and Founding Director of AIDS Alabama where he was Executive Director for 10 years and oversaw its growth from a small local agency to a statewide program with over 35 funding sources and dozens of community partnerships.
Randall’s leadership experience includes many roles at local, state and national levels. He served as President of the National AIDS Housing Coalition, testifying to the Presidents Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA) during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations. He has led advocacy development programs throughout the Southeast and facilitated the development of statewide HIV advocacy networks in multiple states. He is Chair of the Partnership Steering Committee of the Housing and Homelessness Committee of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Further, he co-founded Collaborative Solutions in 2005, a national technical assistance nonprofit organization dedicated to housing services for the disenfranchised. In 2010, he facilitated, launched and incorporated a national nonprofit, the Professional Association of Social Workers in HIV and AIDS (PASWHA) to train social workers in preparation for healthcare reform. Randall completed his Masters of Social Work from the University of Alabama with honors.
